Our next regularly scheduled meeting happens to fall on Martin Luther King’s birthday. We want to embody MLK’s message of a call to service and hope to have you be part of it. Our evening agenda includes:
7:00- Meeting Welcome– We ask you to share any personal memories about MLK Jr.’s impact on you personally. This could be your memory of hearing his speeches or civil rights actions, or where you were on that fateful April day in 1968.
7:15- Share a short video of his inspiring words in his voice.
7:30- Discussion of the video and how it can translate into our own call to service in our community through sharing and teaching of our local history. As you think of ways to help grow history, consider this year’s theme from the Martin Luther King Jr. Center:
“Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence”.
Consider Dr. King’s Six Principles of Nonviolence:
- Information gathering
- Education
- Personal commitment
- Negotiation
- Direct action
- Reconciliation
no later than 8:30- Meeting Adjourned
Zoom will be set up and we will do our best to make it function smoothly in this new meeting format.
