What a great day! Three members of MM&HS (Cindy Walcott, Ralph Fitz-Gerald, and Lauren Parren) met with three members of the Vermont Old Cemetery Association, first at the Friends Cemetery and then Horan. We hope to do a thorough clean up at Friends in the short term; locating missing graves, straightening tilted ones, repairing damaged ones, and righting those that have been flattened. More long term we hope to salvage Horan which contains some of our first residents’ remains. We found some ‘hidden’ stones which we’ll have to locate and mark before any machinery (like a saw, even) is used.
