What’s Neighboring? Well, it’s getting together, bringing food, sharing resources, and generating great new ideas! Recently the MMHS invited nearby historical societies to come to a meeting to do just that. Joining us were representatives from Starksboro, Bristol, Charlotte, Hinesburg, Ferrisburgh, and Lincoln. We had a great time hearing about what others are doing to bring history alive in their towns.
It takes a lot of time and effort to pull together great programs on a regular basis. So why not share? We agreed to advertise each other’s events, with the hopes that folks will venture across town lines to attend programs. We also decided to meet together quarterly to keep the conversation going. Vergennes, Addison, and New Haven hope to participate as well.
You’ll find us advertising upcoming events on our FaceBook page and FaceBook groups. Please become a member so that you won’t miss a thing!

The Monkton Banner hangs in the Town Hall. It is a puzzle of sorts, made up of questions people have posed about Monkton History, which MMHS considers when creating programming. Many of the questions could be asked of our neighboring communities as well, so Neighboring will allow us to answer even more questions. Please continue to add questions, either at the Town Hall display, or by emailing us at monktonmhs@gmail.com
This is fantastic! Many stories cross town boundaries, of course!
