We are delighted to announce the purchase of a new scanner to collect memories from across Monkton. We’ll be hosting a scanning party on Sunday morning, May 5 from 10:00-12:00. The MHHS will collect and organize photos and documents to be saved and shared with curious folks in the future. Between now and May 5, take a look through your old photo albums or scrapbooks or piles of memorabilia to share with MMHS. All originals will be yours; we’ll only make a copy. If you’d like a digital version, bring along a flash drive and we can give you the scanned image.
Remember the OLD town hall? Remember Carmie and her many years of service to our community? This photo proves that images don’t necessarily have to be top quality or show a whole building or demonstrate a big event or be 100 years old, but can have deep meaning to our town. The new scanner should even be able to enhance tired old photos like this one. If someone hadn’t snapped this no-so-great photo we wouldn’t have been able to include it on our free walking tour of the Ridge. She’ll be appreciated in the future by folks who never met her because of this documentation.
Mark your calendar! May 5, 2024 Community Room at the NEW Town Hall. Monkton history matters, and you can help preserve it. Plan to visit us on May 5, follow us on Facebook (like our page or join our group), and check our website regularly. Thank you!
