We have just created a new FaceBook group page called Monkton Museum and Historical Society! If you are on FB you can find us by searching our name in Groups, or use this link. You’ll be asked to answer a simple question when you join, a step necessary because of the huge number of scammers out there.
There are at least 20 other Vermont historical societies with FB groups, so we will be able to see what other groups are up to and we hope they will join our group as well.
Here is our first post: Even if you aren’t on FB this post is important to our group because we’d really like your input on our two key questions.
One of our projects is to collect ideas about two questions: What would you like to know about Monkton’s past? And Why is it important to preserve Monkton’s history? We are posting the answers on a banner displayed in the Community Room at the new Monkton Town Hall. The banner is a copy of the town map, created by our friend Linda Reynolds who recently passed away, but who fully supported this use of her art.
Each answer is written on a 3×4” piece of the map, located on the window sill next to the banner. It is a real challenge to find the correct spot on the map to ‘complete the picture’. One of us is happy to place it for you. If you can’t stop by the Town Hall, please write your response here on this FB post and we will transcribe it for you. The next time you stop by, see if you can find your answer! All are welcome to contribute. Answers will likely affect future MMHS presentations. See all of our upcoming events, projects and publications at https://www.monktonhistory.org
MMHS members, please let us know your answers by emailing us at monktonmhs@gmail.com or comment below. We’ll transcribe your answer and add it to the banner. We look forward to hearing from you.
