Interested in local history? Did you know the Ridge has had people here for 12,000 years? That it once housed a school? Blacksmith shops? A stagecoach inn?
The Monkton Museum and Historical Society (MM&HS) is creating self-guided history tours of Monkton and the surrounding area. Using maps, before, and after pictures, this history tour plans to narrate points of historical significance.
The first section covering the history of Monkton Ridge will be unveiled during the Russell Memorial Library’s Strawberry Festival, June 26 between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. To get the details, stop by our table at the new town hall/library after you get your shortcake and buy your used books. Buy the tour booklet for $4, or access it free on-line.
When you stop at the 1859 Town Hall, come in to see the Monkton Museum & Historical Society’s exhibits featuring items from our collection.
